The right to object enables the data subject to object to the processing of their personal data if this is based on a legitimate interest of the controller or for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest. The controller must cease processing unless it can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds which override the interests, rights and freedoms of the data subject.
